Hours and Compensation

    6:00 AM to Approximately 9:00 PM
  • Compensation
    $95 to $150 per day for Early Voting. $120 to $185 for working Election Day. $20 bonus for working all four days. Bilingual workers earn an additional $5 for training and $5 per day. $45 to $55 for in-person training. $20 for online training. $20 for precinct setup.

Voter Registration Requirements

  • Requirements
    Poll workers over the age of 18 must either be registered voters in California or be lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the U.S. and otherwise eligible to register to vote except for their lack of U.S. citizenship.

Work Requirements

    16-year-old students who are U.S. citizens or lawfully admitted for U.S. permanent residence.
  • Training Details
    Yes. You must attend a training session.
  • A combination of in-person and online training is required. In-person training typically lasts 2 hours and online training lasts 2 hours.

Bilingual individuals who speak English and any of the following languages are encouraged to apply: Mandarin Chinese, Hmong, Khmer, Korean, Hindi, Punjabi, Spanish, Tagalog (Filipino), Burmese, Laotian, Mien, Mongolian, Telugu, or Vietnamese.

In addition to hiring for Election Day, Alameda County is hiring workers for Early Voting Days. Early Voting shift times vary by day. Please contact election officials for more information.
